The full name of Mods is Modernism or Modism. It is a subculture that began in London in 1958 and spread throughout Great Britain and elsewhere. At that time, British fashion culture was influenced by multiple cultures, the biggest influence coming from the United States. In the 1950s, American rock music was popular and young people were called "Teddy Boys" (Ted Boys). After this trend was introduced to Britain, it evolved into a Mod subculture, which young people called Mods.
